Swansea City's Ki Sung-Yueng has spoken about how he survived a summer in the Korean army after being called to complete his mandatory military service.

Ki lives life as a Premier League footballer and his marriage to actress Han Hye-jin, who he wed in 2013, sees him considered a celebrity in South Korea.

Yet after last season he had to report for duty as he was taught how to use weapons and survive gas attacks.

Speaking to WalesOnline, the player with 84 caps for his country said: 'In Korea there is always the possibility of a war, so we have to be ready.
