It is a Carlos Carvalhal carnival as new boss masterminds comeback against Watford but there's a long way to go if Swansea are to survive the drop

Carlos Carvalhal was less than sociable at home on Christmas Day as he picked up the pieces and the phone 24 hours after being sacked by Sheffield Wednesday.

His wife and son were there, visiting from Portugal, but the calls did not stop and so he kept ducking out of the room to answer them.

‘It was a little strange,’ he said. ‘We were celebrating as a three in Sheffield but I used the phone a lot that night. I received calls to work from Japan, Turkey, the United States and other countries far away, as well as England.
