Victor Anichebe can be unplayable at Sunderland, says David Moyes

David Moyes has challenged free transfer signing Victor Anichebe to show he is not a Premier League has-been.

The striker was shown the door by West Brom boss Tony Pulis this summer when his contract was not renewed after three years, six goals and 55 appearances for the club.

But Moyes believes the 6ft 3in Nigeria international could play a big part for Sunderland in the months ahead if he can get himself in the right shape physically and mentally.

Moyes had Anichebe at Everton from 2006-13, where the powerful and pacy frontman scored 18 goals in 131 appearances and the manager believes there is untapped potential in a player still only 28.
