Tony Mowbray admits he must accept Sunderland's new model of signing players for the future - and insists he's aligned with the owners’ ambitions for the club

Tony Mowbray says he must accept that Sunderland’s ownership prefer to buy players for the future rather than now.

There has been some tension behind the scenes at the policy which has seen the hierarchy sign five players aged 20 or under this summer, including 17-year-old Jobe Bellingham from Birmingham.

Only free transfer Bradley Dack, from Blackburn, has real senior experience in the English game.

Mowbray would like more of that ilk, but he said: ‘I think we have to be aligned. As a coach of my age, I want to win every game and I want to get to the Premier League.
