Sunderland may have gone through a difficult period on the pitch, but in the field of shirt unveilings they are one of English football's great innovators.
Fans have been left waiting a long time to find out what the new away kit for the 2017-18 campaign looks like, with it not being revealed before they played their first Championship game against Derby County on Friday night.
However, eagle-eyed supporters will have seen a fan in the Stadium of Light stands wearing an unfamiliar looking light blue Sunderland shirt.

This shirt is Sunderland's away top for the season, and it was worn for the first time by Black Cats supporter Brendan O'Donnell.
