Sunderland to fine Lamine Kone after request to leave as David Moyes insists Everton target will be offered new deal

Lamine Kone will be fined by Sunderland after he released a statement requesting to leave the club.

The 27-year-old travelled to Merseyside this week after Everton made an offer of £18million for the centre-back, who only joined the Black Cats for £5m from Lorient in January.

Kone claims Sunderland have broken the promise of a new contract and believes he does not feature in the plans of manager David Moyes.

Moyes, however, is unimpressed by the Ivorian's actions and insists the player has been told there is a new deal waiting for him on September 1.
