Sunderland clambered off the bottom of the Premier League with a spirited performance for a 0-0 draw against high flying Tottenham Hotspur at a damp and gloomy Stadium of Light. Solid defending in the second half, when Spurs upped their game, gave the Sunderland support some hope for the rest of the season although the fact that Crystal Palace and Swansea won added to the dampness of the evening.
Positives
A lack of errors throughout a team which looked tighter and better organised than it had in the previous two games. This may well be due to the enforced absence of Papy Djilobodji, suspended after his slap on Darren Fletcher at The Hawthorns.
