Jermain Defoe has signalled his intent to quite literally follow in the footsteps of football luminaries Peter Shilton, Peter Schmeichel, John Barnes and Robbie Savage by appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
The 34-year-old Sunderland striker has revealed he is keen to rekindle his childhood passion for dance, and wouldn't mind doing so on Saturday night television.
"I competed in street dance competitions with my mate," Defoe told FourFourTwo magazine.
"I remember being really nervous for one as we had to perform in front of all the girls, too. We ended up winning and I've still got the medals at my mum's.
