Sunderland earned a 1-0 victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon thanks to Patrick van Aanholt's second-half strike.
The score remained goalless going into half-time at the Stadium of Light but the tempo immediately picked up in the second period.
Van Aanholt then put the hosts ahead in the 49th minute from his second attempt after latching onto Jermain Defoe's cross to give the Black Cats all three points.
