The way was clear on Friday night for former England manager Sam Allardyce to return to football after City of London Police ruled he will not be the subject of an investigation.
Allardyce should have plenty of offers with struggling Sunderland — the club he saved from relegation before his 67-day reign as national-team boss — likely to come calling if David Moyes can't build on his first Premier League win of the season against Bournemouth last weekend.
Police have opened one criminal probe as a result of the Daily Telegraph investigation into football corruption.

It is over a 'suspected offence of bribery' and is believed to involve former Barnsley assistant manager Tommy Wright, who was sacked by the Championship club after he accepted £5,000 from reporters posing as representatives of a Far East firm in return for introducing them to his contacts.
