Oxford United target Dean Holden to fill the managerial role of sacked Karl Robinson - with Charlton boss' deal set to expire at the end of the season and talks over a new one currently in limbo

Oxford United look set to approach Charlton Athletic for manager Dean Holden.

The 43-year old is on a contract until the end of the season and Charlton have been looking to offer new terms and extend his deal after an encouraging start to his tenure at The Valley.

However, ongoing conjecture over Charlton's ownership has left negotiations at a standstill while the club's future is ratified.

Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard spoke openly about handing Holden a new deal last week. Sandgaard though is also having to contend with a potential legal threat from former Sunderland owner Charlie Methven as he pushes to get his consortium's takeover bid back on track.
