Mick McCarthy confirmed as coach of Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia as former Sunderland, Wolves, Ipswich and Ireland boss signs deal until May 2022

Mick McCarthy has been confirmed as the new manager of Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia.

The 61-year-old, formerly manager of Millwall, Sunderland, Wolves, Ipswich and the Republic of Ireland, has signed a contract until May 2022.

McCarthy has been out of work since he left the Ireland job back in April, with his expected departure after Euro 2020 brought forward when the Covid-19 pandemic caused the tournament to be postponed 12 months.

The former Wolves, Sunderland, Ipswich and Republic of Ireland boss is welcomed to APOEL after signing a contract through until May 2022

APOEL are currently 10th in the Cypriot first division after a poor start to the season that led to the sacking of manager Marinos Ouzounidis.
