Jordan Pickford has been backed to succeed Joe Hart as England’s number one goalkeeper.
Sunderland manager David Moyes had the chance to sign Hart from Manchester City at the start of the season but opted to stick with inexperienced Pickford and his trust has paid off.
Despite Sunderland’s struggle this season, the 22-year-old has been their outstanding performer and was excellent again against Bournemouth last weekend as they secured their first win of the campaign.

His form was rewarded this week when Gareth Southgate called him up to England’s squad for the games against Scotland and Spain
‘Jordan knows what we think of him,’ said Moyes.
