Jermain Defoe has described Sunderland's team spirit as 'unreal' after their trip to New York and fired a warning to their next opponents Everton.

The striker shared an image of himself and goalkeeper Vito Mannone on Sunderland's final day in the Big Apple and appeared adamant he will get on the scoresheet at Goodison Park.

Posting the picture to his 200,000 followers on Instagram, Defoe said: 'Last day in #NYC hanging out with my boy @vito_mannone1. Team spirit unreal from back to front. One week until #VitoSaves and #JDScores... u26bdufe0f'
