Corry Evans: Sunderland sign Northern Ireland midfielder after Blackburn Rovers release

Sunderland have signed former Blackburn Rovers midfielder and Northern Ireland international Corry Evans on a two-year deal with a further year's option.

The 30-year-old joins the club as a free agent having been released this summer after eight years with Rovers.

He made 219 appearances for the club after joining from Hull City in 2013.

"I know that League One isn't easy to get out of - it's all about consistency and getting it right, so I'm excited to get going," he told the club website.

The Belfast native, whose brother Jonny Evans previously had two spells on loan at the Black Cats, has won 66 caps for his country and remains a regular in Northern Ireland's midfield when fit.
