Chris Coleman set to take over as Sunderland manager and will step down from his position as Wales boss

Chris Coleman is set to stand down as manager of Wales and take over at Sunderland.

Sources in Wales have confirmed to Sportsmail that they expect the 47-year-old to be in charge of the Championship club by Sunday.

We revealed on Thursday that Coleman was interested in the vacancy at the Stadium of Light and we understand he has told the Welsh FA of his decision to end his six-year tenure as national-team boss.

It is thought he will be in charge of the Black Cats for their trip to Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
