Zach Abey had five rushing touchdowns and Malcolm Perry added two more rushing scores as the Navy Midshipmen routed the Virginia Cavaliers, 49-7, in the 2017 Military Bowl.
Navy set a Military Bowl-record with 452 yards rushing and the 42-point win is the largest margin of victory for Navy in a bowl game. Abey also broke the program record for rushing touchdowns in a bowl game and tied Reggie Campbell’s mark for most touchdowns in a bowl game.
Bronco Mendenhall couldn’t have asked for a better start to the game as Joe Reed took the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown to give the Cavaliers a 7-0 lead.
