Maverick junior right-handed pitcher Carlos Tavera threw the first nine innings of an 11-inning combined no-hitter in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Little Rock. The no-hitter is just the sixth in program history and the first since 1983. The Forth Worth, Texas, native struck out 11 batters to run his season total to a Sun Belt-leading 89.
