NEW ORLEANS – Texas State claimed the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl crown with a 41-10 win over in-state foe Rice in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Bobcats—who were part of the Sun Belt’s 10-team bowl contingent that leads all non-autonomy conferences for the fourth-straight season—earned their third bowl win over the past three seasons.
Texas State is 3-0 in three all-time bowl appearances, with each victory coming under head coach GJ Kinne against an in-state opponent.
An interception by redshirt senior defensive back Jaden Rios—the first of three takeaways for the Bobcats defense on the second play of the second quarter—set up an eight-play, 38-yard touchdown drive that opened the scoring for Texas State.
