Louisiana Sweeps Sun Belt Softball Preseason Coaches’ Polls
NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana swept the big three preseason polls for Sun Belt Conference softball in a vote by the league's head coaches. The Ragin’ Cajuns were picked as the unanimous preseason favorite to win the conference regular-season title. Louisiana senior shortstop Alissa Dalton was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year while teammate Summer Ellyson, also a senior, was tabbed as Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
Louisiana received all 10 first-place votes and 100 points for the second year in a row. Troy (87 points), Texas State (72 points) and Coastal Carolina (68) and UTA (68) rounded out the top half of the poll.
