NEW ORLEANS — No. 24/25 James Madison won its eighth-straight game and ran its Sun Belt Conference record to 7-0, clinching the Sun Belt East Division and its first-ever berth into the Credit Union 1 Sun Belt Football Championship Game presented by Visit Pensacola in the process.
Marshall and Georgia Southern earned victories to move within a win of bowl eligibility with two weeks remaining on the regular-season schedule. Despite a loss in the absence of injured starting quarterback Braylon Braxton, Southern Miss continues to occupy the catbird seat in the Sun Belt West Division and control its own destiny in pursuit of a championship game berth.
