Coastal Carolina's Clayton Receives CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors in Football

2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Football Teams

NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina senior defensive lineman Jonathan Clayton earned second-team honors on the 2019 Academic All-America® NCAA Division I Football Teams, as selected by CoSIDA.

Clayton is just the fourth Chanticleer football student-athlete to receive Academic All-America recognition joining Josh Hoke (2005 and 2006), Marcus Lott (2011) and Alex Ross (2015). He is also the first Chant to earn the national academic honor since Ross in 2015.

One of six Chanticleers to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors earlier this season, marking his second-straight season receiving the honor, Clayton battled back from an injury last year to line up on the defensive line for the Chants in 10 games this season, totaling three tackles on the year.
