Coastal Carolina Overcomes Deficit, Takes Lead During Round 2 at SBC Women's Golf Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – (Round 2 Results | Round 3 Pairings) Coastal Carolina carded a 10-under par 278 to turn a five-stroke deficit into an eight-stroke lead during Round 2 of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship.

Freshman Nicole Abelar turned in a championship-low 6-under par 66 to vault into second in the individual standings, behind teammate Sophia Carlsen. Carlsen, a sophomore, shot four-under par 68 to retain the individual lead at the par-72, 6,193-yard LPGA International Hills Course.

Texas State shot 3-over par 291 as a team in Round 2 to sit in second place, while Georgia Southern posted a 9-over par 297 to maintain its position in the top pairing entering Tuesday’s final round.
