Stoke and Hull are keen on securing a deadline day move for former West Brom striker Victor Anichebe.
The 28-year-old hasn't played a competitive game since April and made just 14 appearances for the Baggies last season.
Anichebe is currently without a club after being released by West Brom in the summer but has a wealth of Premier League experience and would be a deal that Hull or Stoke could complete after the transfer window slams shut.
Stoke's interest in Manchester City frontman Wilfried Bony may well cool the club's interest in the Nigerian, which would make Hull frontrunners for his signature.
