Charlie Adam has urged the Stoke board to spare Mark Hughes from the sack and give him another chance to turn the club’s season around.
Fans called for the Welshman’s head after he gambled by playing a weakened team in a 5-0 defeat at Chelsea at the weekend and still saw his team lose 1-0 at home to Newcastle 48 hours later.
It has left Hughes’s future hanging in the balance after four-and-a-half years in the Potteries, but Adam believes owner Peter Coates should stand by a manager who has evolved the club from the Tony Pulis era.
