Stanford Football News: Christian McCaffrey Lined Up For Breakout Season In 2015

Stanford Cardinal running back Christian McCaffrey was a key factor for the team during a season-ending three-game winning streak last season, helping to provide a bright spot at the end of an inconsistent stomachache of a 2014 campaign.

“I was definitely disappointed,” running back Christian McCaffrey said. “Anyone who sees the team we had and the players we had, knows there was so much more. The last three games speak to that team we can be. We didn’t falter when the chips were against us.”

McCaffrey heads into his sophomore season as a potential 20-carries-a-game feature back for Stanford, hoping to build off the 140 yards he tallied in his final 21 carries of the 2014 regular season.

“He was obviously an explosive player but to be in that feature back role and get the bulk of the carries in our offense he needed a little meat on him,” tackle Kyle Murphy said. “He took that to heart. He was the hardest worker on our team this offseason.”
