Stanford will be playing against Pittsburgh in the 85th edition of the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl game in existence, only behind the Rose Bowl. The last time Stanford appeared in the Sun Bowl (2016), Stanford defeated North Carolina, 25-23.
How Did We Get Here?
Stanford started off the season with four straight wins, including a near-impossible comeback victory over Oregon. In the game against Oregon, ESPN in-game win probabilities had Stanford as a 99% underdog at two different points during the game.
The middle of Stanford’s season got a bit a rockier, though.
