Pac-12 first-half wrap: USC's struggles are biggest surprise

Seven games into the season, we’ve already seen maybe more #Pac12AfterDark than some might’ve anticipated.

Here are the five most unexpected Pac-12 moments so far this season.

1. USC fires Steve Sarkisian, 3-3 after six games.

The Trojans were supposed to be the beacon of hope for the Pac-12. Their scholarship numbers were back, the team was in its second year under Steve Sarkisian and Cody Kessler was a potential Heisman candidate in his final season with USC. Now? Now, USC is a complete mess. The Trojans are without a head coach, and although Clay Helton has tried to make light of the situation, pointing out that he has had to step in as an interim before, it doesn’t change the fact that Sarkisian was fired midseason and the Trojans are in a dizzying downward spiral.
