Once again the Stanford Cardinal Women's basketball team (26-7) will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (33-1) in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Women's Tournament. This year the Cardinal come in as a 4-seed taking on a 1-seed Notre Dame.
Stanford has been to the Sweet Sixteen 23 times and Friday night's game will be their 9th straight trip. The Irish have advanced to this round of the tournament eight times in the last nine years. The Cardinal advanced with a dominant victory over USF and pulled out a narrow squeaker against South Dakota State. The Irish are coming off a 17-point drubbing over Indiana.
