Stanford Leads USC 10-7 at the Half

Stanford hosts USC in an early season Pac-12 battle, looking to defend their current 17 game home win streak.

Both teams are coming off strong Week 1 performances, setting up a showdown with a 2-0 start on the line and a chance to gain footing in the Pac-12 standings.

Stanford played sloppy to start, committing three penalties and missing a field goal on their opening drive, then botching a snap to take them out of field goal range on their next drive.

USC took their first possession down the field for a touchdown, with running back Javorious Allen's 40 rushing yards helping set up a Justin Davis one-yard score.

The Cardinal finally broke through with a game-tying touchdown midway through the second quarter, as running back Patrick Skov punched it in from the USC two yard line.

Stanford settled for a late field goal to end the first-half on top 10-7.

Stanford dominated the time of possession, but were unable to capitalize on a few long drives that fizzled out in USC territory.

Neither quarterback has had much time to throw, taking a number of sacks and hurrying throws while under constant defensive pressure.

First-half MVP: Javorious Allen (USC) - 13 carries, 71 yards

Second-half Prediction: This has the makings of another tightly contested game between USC and Stanford. Stanford is right in this game despite playing an inconsistent first-half. If they can play with fewer mistakes and finish drives they should pull the game out in the second-half, having outplayed USC in small stretches.
