Say what you want about Hogan's time in Palo Alto, but he'll still go down as one of the most prolific and successful quarterbacks in modern program history. Beloved by the locker room and the coaching staff, Hogan will have an army in red/white behind him during the Rose Bowl. Expect their best behind him and his best in his collegiate finale.
2. Momentum
Iowa comes into this one gutted after a last-second loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten title game -- a defeat which knocked them out of the College Football Playoff race. Stanford is streaking, winning three straight and 11 of 12 overall. That includes a rousing 41-22 victory over USC in the Pac-12 title game.
The Hawkeyes are the toughest opponent the Cardinal will face by far, but they're also vulnerable and reeling from a huge loss to the Spartans.
