World Series is second-lowest rated on record for TV viewership

That’s because the second game was the lowest-rated Game 2 on record, and the same held true for the fourth and fifth contests. That was after Game 1 tied for the worst-rated opener. These figures are from Nielsen, which tabulates viewership.

Two of this year’s seven contests lasted more than 4 hours, and only one game finished in less than 3½ hours — Game 5 was 3:19.
