With Yogi Berra’s granddaughter involved, new documentary is from the heart

Lindsay Berra, a sportswriter and executive producer of a new documentary, said her grandfather “was the biggest St. Louis sports fan on the planet.”

Her grandfather, of course, was Yogi Berra, the legendary Hall-of-Fame catcher and three-time MVP who grew up and learned to play baseball on the Hill in St. Louis. Yogi Berra is also the subject of his granddaughter’s new documentary, “It Ain’t Over,” in theaters May 19.

Though he ended up playing in Yankees pinstripes, Berra stayed true to his St. Louis roots, his granddaughter said this week.

“He watched so many Cards games; he was a huge fan of Yadier Molina, who he thought was the best catcher of the last 10 years,” she says, meaning the 10 years before Berra’s death in 2015.
