JUPITER, Fla. • Adam Wainwright, bypassed for the Cardinals' opening day assignment for the first time since 2012, is slated to make his next-to-last spring training start Friday with Alberto Rosario taking his first start of the spring behind the plate against the Miami Marlins.
Wainwright will try to get right after allowing 10 runs in in 1 2/3 innings in his last start.
Rosario, who was up with the Cardinals in the second half of last season, almost certainly is ticketed for Class AAA Memphis. He had spent much of the previous three weeks’ time on the Dominican Republic roster for the World Baseball Classic.
