JUPITER, Fla. • Righthander Michael Wacha will pitch for the Cardinals for the first time since last June 20 Sunday when he faces the Washington Nationals in the Cardinals’ second exhibition game of the season.
Wacha, sidelined with an oblique injury after he had started the season 8-2, tried to come back late in the season on a minor league rehabilitation rehabilitation assignment. But that idea had to be scrubbed after a couple of brief outings when Wacha experienced more difficulty.
Paul Goldschmidt will make his first appearance in a Cardinals uniform when he hits third and plays first base.
