There are obvious holes left on this St. Louis Cardinals team, from a short lineup to a shallow rotation to an overworked bullpen. None of these areas were addressed whatsoever, despite a bevy of available options. There does remain a slight glimmer of hope in terms of an internal addition, however, in the form of Junior Fernandez.
Fernandez began his pro career as a starting pitcher with a big fastball and a good changeup. his lack of control and a third at least average offering forced a permanent move to the bullpen in the 2019 season, which has generated fabulous results.
