In the years since his last win as part of the rotation, Carlos Martinez has had different managers, different roles, and taken on numerous different ways to describe his spot on the team, from closer to injured and back again. And each year, despite waves of health concerns and tempestuous results, he would try to surface again as a starter.
That title meant the world to him — as important to who he wanted to be as the childhood nickname he has tattooed on his prized right arm and unleashed again Tuesday as a forecast.
“I think the ‘Tsunami’ is coming again,” Martinez said.
