We are in the baseball dead zone between Christmas and New Year’s, so it’s as good a time as any to reflect on the last calendar year.
We are now more than one year into the rebuild, regardless of how the Cardinals front office and ownership have changed the branding. There have been some notable setbacks, starting with the lack of development of Jordan Walker and Nolan Gorman. Down on the farm, it was a disappointing year for some of the upper-level arms in the organization with Tekoah Roby, Tink Hence, Cooper Hjerpe, and Quinn Mathews battling various combinations of injury and inconsistency, keeping all four safely away from the Busch Stadium mound.
