CINCINNATI • Lefthander Kevin Siegrist, who has become less of an option in the Cardinals’ late-inning bullpen lately, has been placed on the 10-day disabled with left forearm tendinitis to make room for Adam Wainwright, who will come off the DL (back tightness) to make his first start in more than two weeks Sunday.
Sieigrist, 1-1 with a 4.98 earned run average, last pitched on Thursday in Milwaukee when he fanned two of the three men he faced in a perfect inning.
Jose Martinez will bat fourth and play left field for the Cardinals. Greg Garcia, who has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 starts, again will spell Jedd Gyorko at third base.
