Every offseason it seems as if an international baseball star hits the MLB market. Last year it was Jung Ho Kang, and the previous year it was Masahiro Tanaka. Both Kang and Tanaka have both panned out well so far for their respective teams. However, MLB teams fear that the success of these international stars will be short-lived, like in the cases of Kosuke Fukudome and Daisuke Matsuzaka. There have been some very successful Japanese stars in MLB, such as Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui. This offseason, a South Korean first baseman by the name of Byung-Ho Park will be available for MLB teams to sign this Monday, with offers for the 29 year old due Friday.
