Rosenthal airs it out while facing hitters

Cardinals reliever Trevor Rosenthal, out since July 24 with a shoulder problem, threw some 25 pitches to four Cardinals reserve hitters Saturday afternoon and was impressive, according to Tommy Pham, one of the hitters; young catcher Carson Kelly and, most significantly manager Mike Matheny.

“I thought he was good,” said Matheny. “The ball jumped out of his hand. And he felt good. That's obviously what we were hopeful for.”

“Velocity looked good,” said Pham. “Now it’s just a couple of tweaks on his command, as would be expected, with his first time throwing. He’ll be great. It will be good to have him back.
