CHICAGO — Twice in the past week, the losses mounted for the Cardinals before they took the field during an already arduous stretch of games.
Three days after Dexter Fowler had to leave the team in Cincinnati because of an abdominal issue, pitcher Kwang Hyun Kim was taken to a Chicago emergency room where he was diagnosed with a kidney ailment. On the same road trip, the Cardinals lost their most productive outfielder and one of their most consistent pitchers, and veteran Adam Wainwright suggested that leaves one way to find wins.
“Any time you lose two guys like that it hurts,” he said.
