Pirates' Bell's fourth hit is three-run homer as Cards fall behind 8-6

Pittsburgh first baseman Josh Bell greeted Cardinals reliever John Brebbia with a three-run homer, his fourth hit of the day, as the Pirates caught the Cardinals and then passed them with a five-run seventh inning at Busch Stadium as a record crowd for the facility of 48,555 observed silently.

Lefthanded reliever Tyler Webb walked one batter and hit another in the seventh before Brebbia was summoned. Bell's ball barely cleared the right-field wall in the corner. The homer, Bell’s 12th of the season, was the third allowed by Brebbia, whose ERA was 0.83 before the inning.

That tied the score at 6-6 and then Adam Frazier’s two-run pinch-hit double off Brebbia restored the lead to the Pirates at 8-6.
