JUPITER, Fla. •_After being blanked for their previous 12 innings, the Cardinals ended that dry spell in the fourth inning Sunday when Tommy Pham belted a full-count pitch from Miami’s Jose Fernandez for a two-run homer to left. The homer, Pham’s second of the spring followed a walk to Brayan Pena and gave Jaime Garcia a 2-0 lead in an exhibition game.
Garcia did not allow a hit through the first four innings, striking out four. .
TOO MUCH RUNNING MEANS NO RUN
The Cardinals, who were blanked on Saturday, stranding 11 runners, couldn’t even score in the second inning Sunday when Brayan Pena doubled to deep center with nobody out and runners at first and second.
