If everything goes as Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak expects, third baseman Jhonny Peralta and right fielder Stephen Piscotty both will be activated this weekend for the series with San Francisco.
At that point, the Cardinals, temporarily, at least, could drop from 13 pitchers to 12. And the other player who may go is rookie outfielder Magneuris Sierra, who has made an immediate mark with his bat, glove and speed but who wasn’t in the lineup Tuesday.
Peralta, on the 10-day disabled list with complications stemming from an upper respiratory infection, has played three games at Class AAA Memphis in the last few days and will start again Wednesday before returning here.
