JUPITER, Fla. • Let’s see now. The Cardinals have missed the playoffs the last two years. Jose Oquendo hasn’t been coaching third base or the infielders the last two years.
Oquendo, now back as a Cardinals coach, doesn’t indulge in any such “what ifs,” but if there was any statement made by fans more than any other since 2015, it was that “if Oquendo was here, this wouldn’t have happened.”
“This,” could be anything related to Cardinals fielding or baserunning, both of which have been suspect.
“One day the player can make you a good coach and the next he can make you a bad coach,” Oquendo said Wednesday.
