After thriving through back-to-back doubleheaders this past weekend, the Cardinals are turning to Michael Wacha on short rest for Wednesday’s start instead of going with one of the recent callups or long relievers. The decision, and likely pitch limit on Wacha, allows Shildt to set up a few relievers behind Wacha, who would be both starter and “opener.”
