Three members of the 2016 National League All-Star team are on the ballot as Cardinals this year. That includes Carpenter, Aledmys Diaz and Dexter Fowler, who represented the Cubs in his first All-Star appearance last season. Carpenter has made the NL All-Star team as a second baseman and a third baseman. This year, he's eyeing a spot as a first baseman.
Other Cardinals on the ballot include Randal Grichuk, Stephen Piscotty, Kolten Wong and Jedd Gyorko. Gyorko made the list of third basemen instead of Opening Night starter Jhonny Peralta, and he is building a strong case for All-Star consideration, too.
