WASHINGTON • After arriving Sunday evening on a private jet with teammate Yadier Molina, Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas had to pivot quickly and fly home to Florida.
Mikolas received word that his wife Lauren had gone into labor and he rushed home to Jupiter, Fla., to be with her. The couple is expecting twins. Mikolas will miss all of the All-Star Game festivities, according to a Major League Baseball official. He had already been replaced on the roster and was listed as ineligible for the game because he pitched Sunday.
That leaves the Cardinals one active player present for the game -- catcher Yadier Molina.
