Mike Shannon should be a Hall of Famer - A Hunt and Peck

Mike Shannon was the Missouri High School Player of the year in both football and basketball (the only athlete to win both awards in the same year) and went to college at the University of Missouri before signing with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was on the field for the Cardinals for nine seasons. He has played in three World Series and won two of them hitting a home run in each series. Shannon’s playing career ended in 1970 when he contracted a kidney disease called nephritis, but that would not keep the home town boy away from his home town team.
